BIO

A lifelong commitment to education drives Dr. Lee's current work as a teacher of future educators, and a researcher in learning and education - both in New York and Taiwan. Currently, she is Dean of College of Humanities and Social Sciences as well as Professor in the Department of Early Childhood Development and Education, Chaoyang University of Technology, Taichung, Taiwan, involved in extensive instruction, research and administration. The past chair of the Commission on Music in Special Education, Music Therapy and Music Medicine, International Society for Music Education.

After graduation from National Chung Hsing University (Taichung, Taiwan) in 1985, she immediately embarked on her mission to gain practical experience as a hands-on music instructor. This continued until 1995,  after resigning her post as a music teacher at Feng Tung Junior High School in Taichung, she moved to the United States to further develop her knowledge as an educator.

The experience and expertise gained during several years in the U.S. have proven invaluable to her current work. Study at the prestigious Columbia University Teachers College and Long Island University not only obtained two masters and one doctoral (Ed. D.) degree but provided exposure to leading-edge research and techniques in learning, education, and early childhood development. It was through her dissertation research that she was able to develop a breakthrough new curriculum for using music as a means to enable language and culture acquisition in children. This program was tested full-scale through her hands-on work as a teacher at the Northern New Jersey Chinese Association Chinese School - in a course designed for American parents and their adopted Chinese children. This innovative project made a significant impact on the lives of many young children and even inspired stories on her work by American newspapers.

Along with her current responsibilities, she continues extensive research into the intersection of learning, language, music, music education, and music educational therapy for young children.  Her work has led to ongoing invitations to submit papers and lecture at prestigious conferences and seminars in the United States, Canada, Australia, Spain, Japan, the U.K., Malaysia, Portugal, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, Denmark, Czech Republic, Poland, Greece, Switzerland, Singapore, Brazil, Turkey, Indonesia, Mexico, Finland, Russia, Thailand, South Africa, Vietnam, Albania and China.
